I'm writing this article in response to the one you wrote, "Haruka and Michiru: Does it really matter?". In the article, you stated that you dident think the new S dub series would have changed Haruka and Michiru's relationship significantly. Yet they have made them cousins. That to me is a BIG change, not only is it insulting that they don't think their unusually subtle relationship can be shown on television, but it also sounds like incest! I can't believe that a relationship that subtle must be covered up like that. I have seen the entire S series subbed, and hearing about what they have done not only makes me sick, but I will now -never- watch a dub of Sailor Moon again.
You also stated in the article that Haruka and Michiru's relationship was questionable. But in fact it is not, it is very much real considering that Naoka Takeuchi (the creator of Sailor Moon) admitted to it being true in interviews. Not only that, but there are also instances in the manga where they are kissing. I don't see any reason why they would change them from being lesbians in the manga, to just friends in the series. Also, they sometimes do embrace each other, like in this pic:
In episode 109 (?) when Haruka had a flashback of when her and Michiru met, Michiru said "I have a friend who has always wanted to ride in your car along the beach with you, even though she's a girl" This she said meaning herself. Even later in the episode Haruka and Michiru were driving along the beach and Haruka said to her "I'm happy to see you, I'm not going to let you go tonight" And what about the famous Super S movie quote when Michiru says "There are plenty of fun things to do as adults...right Haruka?" and Haruka coughs embarrassed. ^_~ Tell me that means nothing! Well anyway, I only wish that American television could be more open to things like sexuality, its not fair to anime fans like me, and its not fair to gays in general. Here also is a newspaper article I found discussing the Haruka Michiru dilemma:
